OAKLAND, ALAMEDA COUNTY — October 22, 2026. Residents near Lincoln Square Recreation Center in Oakland should be aware of a municipal construction schedule extending well into November. The city issued a notice about planned demolition activities and major noise from October 7 through November 20, 2026.

What the city notice actually says
According to Oakland’s public improvement notice, work is scheduled Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. The date range identifies a project window, not a guarantee that demolition activity or disruptive noise occurs continuously throughout each shift.
People living or working around Lincoln Square should distinguish demolition-related noise from an emergency incident. The public notice does not say that an explosion, accident or evacuation has happened; it describes planned construction impacts.
Questions neighbors can document
For nearby families, seniors, merchants and recreation-center users, the most useful details are changes to safe pedestrian access, the active construction perimeter, potential periods of exceptionally loud activity and any updated facility access information. The official project page should be the starting point for identifying the responsible contractor or city contact.
Anyone photographing the site for a news tip should do so from safe public areas and avoid entering closed construction zones. A reader’s report of noise from a particular hour is not proof that all surrounding streets are affected.
How to verify changes
City plans can shift due to weather, technical findings and contractor schedules. Oakland News will treat any extension or change as a new fact only after verification from city documents or an attributed response.
